We are currently looking for a multi-talented team player to work as a full time creative production coordinator. The person we’re looking for has a great work ethic and a creative mind — a junior producer in the making.
Are you good with people, research, storytelling, and production planning? Are you confident, professional, personable, focused, with proven experience in production and client storytelling? Are you ready to join a small team and put your energy into shaping a growing company?
The role:
You enjoy being the anchor for a varied slate of projects and collaborators, using your storytelling smarts and organizational abilities to make the best decisions on scheduling and budgeting on behalf of our clients. We might have 12 projects on the go at various stages of development or production, and you’re able to keep everyone up to speed: clients, staff, freelancers, production contractors.
You have experience with the production community in Halifax and Nova Scotia, and hopefully beyond. You are well connected and have a great ability to make things happen. We plan to hire someone with a demonstrated ability to take a project brief and put the wheels in motion to make sure we have the best story, the best people, the best location, the best use of resources and results that work for our clients.
You “get” the Journeyman style and approach. It’s a real asset if you have experience on projects like the ones we produce at Journeyman – so have a look at our stuff! As a member of the team, you’re another pair of eyes and ears and can share your opinions and ideas about production. You push yourself and the team to make sure we exceed expectations. You are keen to support our production efforts by taking on tasks that may or may not be new to you: research, casting, contacting on-camera subjects, arranging and conducting pre-interviews, looking for good shooting elements and opportunities, writing research summaries, scouting locations, making schedules and making suggestions on content.
You also demonstrate these abilities:
• excellent communicator and writer
• attention to detail – accuracy and no typos!
• computer savvy, able to troubleshoot issues – Mac
• knowledge and familiarity with social media
• cool under pressure
• experience with digital media environment
And it would be nice if you had these:
• French or other languages
• a flair for PR and telling our company story in blogs and social media
• other computer skills like Photoshop
• travel experience
Additional mentionables: We are located in Downtown Dartmouth in an historic home, right around the corner from Two If By Sea café…if you’re a fan of their croissants, we advise that you pace yourself…
This is an exciting time in the Halifax region, a city with momentum. It’s also a great time to join our company as we grow, evolving a new vision for the sort of client communication work we’ve built our reputation on. Journeyman is a company dedicated to exploring the new ways of using film language to help people communicate. We’re also interested in exploring the changing landscape of content development and sharing on the web. Our company’s evolution will depend entirely on the creative team we build.
This is a full time position. Salary will be negotiated based on experience. We can offer you a benefits package through the Chamber of Commerce Group Plan.
This position will begin as soon as possible. We’re extending the original deadline for applications to an on-going search for the right person with the right fit.
Please send us an interesting letter/bio that describes how you connect to our company story, along with a resumé to pm@journeymanfilm.com.
Only those applicants to be interviewed will be contacted. Thanks for your interest in Journeyman Film Company.
